Pray for strength

What I hear the most and when I say that Im not only talking about what I hear from other people but also what I tell myself is the need for strength. I mean is that not one of the biggest things we pray for is God’s strength? Why is it that we do that so often? Are we that weak? Dumb question, or course we are weak but is our faith that weak that we must continually make it a issue? There are a few verses that I have came across in the last few days that made me think that maybe the reason I am always thinking I need extra strength from God to keep myself out of trouble is due to how I am leading my life right now. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his, good, pleasing and perfect will.” So really that means if we would just stop living to the standards the world has set then we will be renewed, when you are new again are you not at your strongest??? Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” When our light is out is that not when we are seaking for God’s strength? What causes us to need our light turned back on and why did it go out in the first place… If you can just make it a point to think about the grace God has extended to you just so that you could make it through that day there would be more then enough electricity to make your light shine for atleast the next 2 days!!! Everytime you start to think that you need a little help from the man upstairs just sit and think about how awesome God is and how he has taken care of you thus far. Do not think that I am saying that you do not need to pray for strength because we should always be asking for God’s hand to hold us from whatever temptation or fear we are feeling. I just feel that sometimes we spend to much time asking for strength then doing what the Bible tells us will provide it.
It’s a nice day out today, go out and enjoy it!
