Hi there! I’m Jerad, an entrepreneur from Modesto, CA. I am a website designer, photographer, educator, husband, and father.
I started this blog in 2005 and it has been many things to me over those many years. It started out as a place for me to share my thoughts and the occasional rant. For a short while, it was the website for a couple of my businesses before I moved them to their own websites.
Since video went full digital, I have preferred making videos over writing blogs and articles. Writing has always been a challenge for me. I find it easier to get in front of a camera and talk. Here are a couple of my more popular videos across a couple of Youtube Channels I create on:
I had one video go what I would consider viral. Hours after “The Fox Song” by Ylvis released, we filmed our own version of the video and put it on Youtube. The video gained 1.2 million views in three weeks time. It has since been pulled from Youtube but you can still see it on Vimeo.
My life currently consists of being a Husband, Father to three children, business owner, instructor and daily problem solver. I post a lot about these things on the various social networks as well. The issue is that I recognize that not all of the social networks I am posting content to are going to be around forever. On top of that, there is a lot of speculation as to what these social networks do with the content you post. I am starting to prefer that my content originates from a place where I have some kind of control.
I have played around with Vlogging, but have a hard time releasing videos on a consistent basis unless I am on vacation or traveling a lot. Here are some of my favorite Vlogs.
You can view all of my Vlogs from newest to oldest here: Vlog Playlist
What do I blog about?
Since deciding to originate the majority of the content I post to the internet on this blog, most of what you will see here is about my life and my family. Family is the most important thing in my life. Sharing my life with my online world has allowed me to connect on such a deeper level with people where we can all grow together.
I also blog about things I have learned or had to figure out on my own. I am a resourceful person. When I need to know how to do something, the internet often has an answer for me. However, when I can not find a solution online and am forced to figure it out on my own, I feel obligated to post the results online so I can help others who may be searching for the same things. If you are looking for something specific, try the search in the menu.
How do I keep everything organized?
I will be taking advantage of tags in WordPress to keep things organized. I used to get carried away with categories but have found that I don’t do a good job of keeping posts categorized, especially when they fit into multiple categories. For example, when posting about family, I will use the tag family. Tagging is the best way to organize blog posts.
Things will continue to change and so will my blogging habits. As I move through life and experience new things, I want to be able to come back to my website and relive some of them. Social Networks will come and go but hopefully this website will live on forever and continue to grow as I do in life.
