We are United

Did you know that 80% of Americans claim themselves to be a Christian? Think about how many people on myspace claim to be Christian but what exactly are they doing with that gross picture of Britney Spears on there saying that her love personality is called “sexy britney”… Ehhh I can’t stand that. It makes me want to use my sweet computer hacking skills. No but really whats the deal with that? How many people do you know that claim to be Christians but can be open and blatent about hatred toward other people? Are we not such skeptics now-a-days because of the way the world has became? Check out Ephesians 4:1-6. We are called to be unified in love. Those few verses tell us that we need to be humble, patient, gentile and kind to one another. We are told to do whatever we can to keep the peace. Why then when someone even just rubs us the wrong way do we chew them out or get upset? Why do we take criticism so personal from other people and get angry so easy over it? Most people realize when they have screwed up or said something to upset you by the time they finish it, so why don’t we respond with love? I guess we get caught up in our own emotions really easy and forget that God has already told us how we are suppose to act. We are to respond with love, not anger. The first verse says it all…

As a prisoner for the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
Ephesians 4:1

If we choose to accept the mercy God has extended to us and go as far as calling ourselves Christians then we need to live up to that. I felt really good after Church tonight, it was cool cause several people I saw that I usually exchanged hand shakes with went in for a hug instead. We already know that we are all United together through Christ. We also know that we are called to love eachother as brothers and sisters in Christ. Thus we are to be United in Love with eachother, to be supportive and accountable to eachother right?? The next time you get upset at someone just think about what you are going to accomplish by getting upset. Is it going to change the current situation or make it any better? Most people are used to hostility and almost expect it, why don’t you surprise someone with a response from your heart and show them you really do care about them instead. You might just “save” someones day!
